Biography

The notion that Jeremiah Pearson had a middle initial of "F." is a complete falsehood. It appears on an 18th century transcription of the marriage entry in the original town records, where the transcriber blundered by ignoring the line that the town clerk drew through his first attempt at entering the groom's surname in his marriage record.

The clerk first tried to write "Pe" but it was sort of a scrawl, so he crossed that out and then started over and went on to write the name as "Person."

"The Pearsons owned a tide-mill, at Newbury old town." - History of old Chester : from 1719 to 1869 -Lietenant of Colonial troops against the French. Owned a grist mill until 1708, which the town gave him permission to build in 1697 (and granted him the land in Jan 1699/1700.
